Happy trails for Kokanee runners

Do you miss running competitively on trails? Then you don’t want to miss the Kokanee Trail Runs on Sunday at the Taylor Creek Snow Park.

Tahoe Mountain Milers Running Club is presenting 5K, 10K and half-marathon runs as well as a tadpole trot on trails near Fallon Leaf Lake.

The half marathon starts at 9 a.m., followed by the tadpole trot at 9:15 a.m. and the 5K and 10K at 10 a.m. Entry fees are $30 for the half marathon and $20 for the 5K and 10K runs. The fees cover a T-shirt, ceramic awards for top three in each age category, goodie bags and raffle.

Prerace registration starts at 8 a.m. Sunday

Tadpoles cost $3 or $10 with a cotton T-shirt.

Taylor Creek Snow Park is located 3.5 miles north of South Lake Tahoe on State Route 89.

All proceeds benefit the Tahoe Heritage Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports Forest Service environmental education programs at Lake Tahoe.

Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department has extended its registration for the winter Adult Basketball League and has changed the type of division offered.

The division is now an “open” division. Games are played on Monday nights at Kahle Community Center.

Registration is running through Oct. 19 and the cost is $540 per team. The league is set to start Nov. 5 and run into March. For details, call Kahle Community Center at (775) 586-7271.
