Hooligans to start tournament play

Matt O'Neill

The South Tahoe Hooligans All-Star team opens tournament play at 6 p.m. today in Reno against the Carson National.

Tall right-handed fireballer Brandon Hallum will get the call on the mound for the Hooligans.

With a team built on speed, the top of the lineup will be the key for Don Amaral’s team.

Second baseman Scott Hoffman will bat leadoff, followed by centerfielder Ian Chandler, Ryan Lucia and Teddy Kosciolek.

“All of them have the capability to hit a home run,” Amaral said. “Teddy has really come on lately and has been hitting great in batting practice.”

Amaral also boasts a deep pitching staff, featuring Michael Blank, Chandler, Jason Winslow, Kyle Mazzoni and Patrick Lahlum.

The defense for the Hooligans will great as well. Ivan Trebotich will anchor the infield at first base, while Nathan “Hoover” Garafolos will be a steady glove in the field as well. Michael Olivo, Nick Spano and Chad Cooney all look to play a major part as well.

Amaral is assisted by Dave Olivo, Neal Trebotich and Michael Blank.
