Lady Vikings down Hug

With a dominant showing in both singles and doubles play, the South Tahoe lady Vikings defeated the visiting Hug Hawks 20.5-2 Tuesday in Nevada 4A tennis.

“The girls were putting in a lot of effort out there,” Viking coach Sabrina Zalles said. “They were communicating well and they showed a lot of enthusiasm in this victory.”

Doubles play was led by the power duo of junior Crystal Gibbons and senior Kristie Ford, who routed their competition 6-1 and 6-1, while the singles side saw junior Samantha Crosson win her matches 6-0 and 6-4.

The Vikings hope they can take the intensity they displayed Tuesday into Thursday’s heavyweight road match with Douglas.
