The back tees, or championship tees, did little to intimidate South Tahoe High golfers Andrew Wysong and Corrie Lindsay on Tuesday at Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch.

The Vikings junior varsity golfers shot the low nine-hole round – 46 – in their duel with Douglas. The Tigers, however, won the match, 253 to 261 strokes.

“Andrew and Corrie both played pretty well,” said Vikings coach Mike Patterson. “We played from the championship tees, and Sierra Nevada is not an easy golf course, especially from the championship tees.”

Also contributing to the Vikings team total were David Peterson with 52, Jon Wallace 57 and Steven Gerken 60. The team didn’t use Jon Strohm’s 65.

The STHS varsity resumes play in the Carson Invitational April 26-27 at Eagle Valley Golf Course.
