Listen for Whittell broadcast

Michael Traum

“He’s to the 10, 5 – touchdown, Warriors!”

South Lake Tahoe radio station KTHO (590) AM has announced plans to broadcast Whittell High football home games, beginning this Saturday when the Warriors host Manogue. Game time is 1:30 p.m.

Play-by-play duties will be handled by Jeff Thompson, who most recently called games in upstate New York, including last year’s state playoffs. He’s also called gridiron battles at Fresno City College. It’s unclear whether away games will be broadcasted.

“I’m really excited that our kids are getting this kind of attention,” said Susan Grady, Whittell athletic director. “They work so hard and it’s nice for the community who can’t be there for the games.”
