Little League All-Stars ousted in slugfest

Hitting wasn’t a problem for the South Tahoe 11-12 All-Stars at the district tournament on Friday; it was their fielding and pitching that struggled.

South Tahoe put 12 runs on the scoreboard against Reno American West but lost its final game 16-12 at Swope Park in Reno.

South Tahoe finished 1-3 in pool play. A victory would have likely propelled South Tahoe into the elimination round that began on Sunday.

“We just seemed to have trouble getting people out,” said South Tahoe skipper Andy Braun.

“It was a good experience for the kids and they had a lot of fun. I just wish we had more time to play baseball, that’s what it’s about.”

Jordan Morgan started for South Tahoe and pitched well for two innings but ran into control problems in the third. Otto Trebotich game in the fourth and finished up.

Hitting statistics weren’t available at press time.
