The annual Icebreaker tennis tournament has been rescheduled for June 7-8 at the South Tahoe High School tennis courts.

The tournament will start at 9 a.m. Saturday and is open to all 5.0 and lower players. This round-robin tournament will consist of singles on Saturday with men’s and women’s A, B and C divisions. A round-robin double tournament is scheduled for Sunday with teams consisting of one A and one B/C player and partners rotating each round. Entry fee is $10 per person per event and the entry deadline is noon June 6. Proceeds go to the South Tahoe High School Tennis Fund.

This tournament will be the first of a series of monthly events planned for this year’s tennis season. For details about the Icebreaker and other local tennis activities, contact Pat Fagen at 541-8492.

The South Tahoe NJTL junior tennis posted two wins last week.

The first was over previously undefeated Carson City on May 20 by a game score of 80-47, and the second was against Zephyr Cove last Thursday with a match score of 4-0-2. The two wins improve the team’s record to 4-0 with two home matches remaining.

The Tahoe Mountain Milers Running Club is offering runners of all ages and abilities an opportunity to improve their 5K times in a noncompetitive challenge program.

Runners are encouraged to earn pin medals (gold, silver, bronze, yellow and orange) that are awarded according to age-based goal times.

The challenge takes place every second and fourth Tuesday of the month throughout the summer at Sawmill Pond at 6 p.m. The fee is $3 for members and $4 for nonmembers. For details, call 577-1689.
