The South Tahoe Jr. Pee Wees traveled to Sparks, Nev., to take on Reno Central. After four quarters of fierce football Reno Central came out on top with a 7-0 victory.
The game was a defensive battle from the opening kickoff. The South Tahoe Jr. Pee Wees, after giving up an early first quarter touchdown, held Reno Central scoreless the rest of the game.
Reno Central came out on offense with a lot of gimmicks and tricks, but South Tahoe wasn’t fooled and played outstanding. The defense was led by Johnny Burgess, who stopped a Reno drive with an interception. Burgess had an outstanding game covering Reno receivers all night.
Jack White, Zack Klug, Jake Tarwater, Derek Robbins, Giovanni Morales and Reece O’Keefe all turned in a great effort on defense.
On offense, Mason Hage, Jake Tarwater, Jeremy Smiley, Hayden Waters, Logan Field, Drake Lathrope all turned in excellent performances.
Head coach, Ken Robbins told the team that he was proud of the boys’ effort and encouraged the team to come to practice this week determined to get better, correct mistakes and prepare to take on Fernley at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Viking Bowl.
