Lake Tahoe CC hosting free kids soccer tournament May 1, signups open for elementary school students

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — Lake Tahoe Community College is hosting a free children’s soccer tournament Sunday, May 1, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Community Playfield next to the school’s Physical Education building. Children of all abilities from kindergarten through fifth grade are welcome to participate.

Coyotes men’s soccer coach Nick Arbelaez will run the tournament. Several athletes from LTCC’s 2015 Golden Valley Conference championship team will be at the tournament to assist and provide guidance, along with athletes from the Lake Tahoe women’s soccer team.

Water and snacks will be provided free of charge to all participants, along with some fun giveaways. Participants should bring cleats, shin guards and any other gear they have with them. No special equipment is required to play; just be sure to wear comfortable clothing and athletic shoes.

Kids who want to play in the tournament are encouraged to sign up by Monday, April 25, although latecomers can also register the day of the event. To sign up, contact Arbelaez at 530-541-4660, ext. 550, or via email at; or contact LTCC Equity Office Director Laura Salinas at 530-541-4660, ext. 549, or via email
