South Tahoe boys golf’s Molesworth qualifies for Div. I-A State championships

Connor Molesworth will end his 2016 season golfing on the state’s biggest stage. The South Tahoe sophomore qualified as an individual for the Div. I-A State championships based on season-long results in league play.

Molesworth averaged a score of 90.6 in Div. I-A Northern League matches to finish 17th overall and qualify as one of six individuals. As a team, South Tahoe took sixth with an average score of 502.4 — the league did not hold a championship tournament.

Spring Creek, Elko and Fallon earned the three team berths, along with Faith Lutheran (Las Vegas), Pahrump Valley (Pahrump, Nev.) and Boulder City (Nev.) from the Southern Region. The Div. I-A State championships will be played over two rounds Tuesday and Wednesday, May 17-18, at Mountain Falls Golf Club in Pahrump, Nevada.
