South Tahoe soccer | Girls back on track

Special to the Tribune

Junior Allison King had two goals and senior Cassidy Jackson added a goal and an assist as the South Tahoe girls soccer team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 4-0 win over Lowry on Saturday at South Tahoe High School.

Sophomore Ashlee Schouten also scored for the Vikings, who remain in first place in the Ruby Mountain League with a 9-1-2 record.

South Tahoe outshot Lowry 29-5 and scored all four of its goals in the second half.

“It was nice to see the girls bounce back after two difficult games,” said coach Jeremy Evans. “We’ve been struggling a bit to score. Although we’re generating lots of chances, we’ve been unable to actually put them away. As a coach that’s frustrating, but I am pleased that we’re generating the chances because I know it’s only a matter of time before the goals start coming.

“We’ve also been missing our leading scorer, junior Jordyn Dion, due to illness. Still, no excuses. Give Lowry credit. They played very well and should’ve scored at least one goal of their own on the counterattack.”

UP NEXT: South Tahoe hosts Elko and Spring Creek next Friday and Saturday, respectively, in two critical league games.
