The South Tahoe tennis teams delivered a sweep of Sparks in 3A Northern matches on Thursday, Sept. 8. The Vikings girls didn’t drop a set on the road while the boys team won in a walkover to continue its unbeaten start to the season.

At Plumas Tennis Center in Reno, Nevada, the South Tahoe girls team (3-1 I-A Northern) took every set in an 18-0 victory over the Railroaders. The Vikings lost only 11 games en route to a lopsided victory.

In singles, No. 2 Allyson Cromwell delivered a 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 triple bagel Thursday. No. 1 Lyndsey Allen won with scores of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1 while No. 3 Theresa Sandborn swept her sets with identical 6-2 margins.

On the doubles side, none of the three South Tahoe teams dropped more than two games. The No. 1 team of Abby Burns and Gabbi Fisher went 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, the No. 2 team of Izzy Preston and Regan Singer finished 6-0, 6-1, 6-0, and the No. 3 team of Kayla Mason and Riana Bindel had scores of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0.

In South Lake Tahoe, the Vikings boys team (4-0) won courtesy of a forfeit to remain undefeated on the season. South Tahoe’s JV players took the court against the Railroaders, and delivered a 12-6 win at STHS Tennis Complex.

Both teams return to action Tuesday, Sept. 13, against Fallon. South Tahoe’s boys play at STHS Tennis Complex while the Vikings girls travel to face the Greenwave — both matches start at 3 p.m.
