Cruz Hernandez selected as local Junior Giants Willie Mac Award winner

Local 7-year-old Cruz Hernandez has been selected as the local Junior Giants Willie Mac Award winner. On Wednesday, July 27, Hernandez will receive his award on the field at AT&T Park before the San Francisco Giants face the Cincinnati Reds.

Hernandez also attended an end-of-season luncheon as part of the award, modeled after the annual award picked for a Giants’ player by his teammates named for Hall of Famer Willie McCovey. The Junior Giants version is presented to players and coaches who best exemplify the organization’s Four Bases of Character Development: confidence, integrity, leadership and teamwork.
