Tailgate this weekend
Football: It’s homecoming week at Whittell High School and the Warriors football team will host Coleville at 1 p.m. Saturday. There will be a field dedication ceremony in honor of Whittell alum, Gary Lundergreen, at 12:30 p.m.
This will be the last weekend to catch the high school football team at home.
Soccer: The South Tahoe girls soccer team will host Lowry at 1 p.m. Saturday. The JV game will start at 11 a.m.
The Whittell girls soccer team will also host Lovelock at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Volleyball: The Whittell volleyball team will host Hawthorne at 11 a.m. Saturday. The JV game will start at 10 a.m.
Basketball: The eighth grade girls basketball team will play in a three-day tournament at South Tahoe Middle School, 2940 Lake Tahoe Blvd. The tournament began Friday and continues Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon. It will be held in both the gym and the multi-purpose room at the middle school. The girls will compete against other teams from California and Nevada. The cost of admission is $5.00 for adults and students are free. The tournament is hosted by the South Lake Tahoe Optimist Club.
