Warriors playoff run falls short

The Warriors couldn’t catch a break Friday.
The Whittell softball team’s playoff run ended in Ely, Nev. on Friday during the second round of playoffs. The girls dropped two neutral playoff games 0-10 to Yerington and Lovelock. They had previously defeated Incline in Round 1 of playoffs, a home doubleheader.
In Game 1, Whittell held Yerington scoreless through the first four innings, but the Lions notched two runs in the fifth, six in the sixth and two more in the seventh for the win.
Yerington and Lovelock went on to lose to White Pine the next day.
Whittell finished the season 19-14 overall and 8-5 in league. The Warriors graduate Amanda Harris, Emily Harris, Katie Besson, Brianna Brewer, Nicki Simon and Sarah Tencher.
