Whittell falls to Dunsmuir

The Warriors five-hour trek to Dunsmuir High School took its toll.

The Whittell football team dropped its non-conference road game 64-6 to a strong Dunsmuir team Friday. The Warriors are now 1-2 in league and 1-4 overall.

By the halftime whistle, Dunsmuir had climbed out to 44-6 lead and defensively wasn’t letting Whittell back in the game. Dunsmuir added 20 more in the fourth quarter.

Offensively, junior running back Chase Sordahl led the way for the Tigers with 165 yards on nine carries and three touchdowns.

UP NEXT: The Warriors return home for their homecoming game this weekend. The boys will take on Mineral County (6-1 overall, 3-1 in league) at 1 p.m. Saturday. There will be a field dedication ceremony in honor of Whittell graduate and coach Gary Lundergreen at 12:30 p.m. preceding kick off.
