Whittell splits at Battle Mountain

Special to the Tribune

The Warrior baseball nine found the going tough against the Longhorns in a Friday morning game at the Crossover Tournament at Battle Mountain.

The Red and Gold lost 22-1, the lone bright spot a long home run from Matt Elliott. Coach Thomas Hunter estimated the blast traveled 370 feet over the fence in left center. It was the Warriors’ only hit in the game.

Meanwhile the Whittell softball team picked up another win. The girls beat Battle Muntain 4-0.

Whittell looks to regroup quickly as they faced White Pine Bobcats on Friday night. Check online for game results.
