Lake Tahoe Community College women shutout Butte at home
Graciela Palencia recorded a goal and an assist and goalkeeper Claudia Janese and the defense posted their seventh shutout of the season Friday, Sept. 29, in the Lake Tahoe Community College women’s soccer team’s 3-0 Golden Valley Conference win against Butte College in South Lake Tahoe.
The Lady Coyotes, who also got first-half goals from Zareli Villa and Madison Escolar, have won four of the their past five games and outscored their opponents 21-3 in that stretch.
“Butte has traditionally been a difficult opponent for us and one of the top teams in the conference,” said third-year coach Jeremy Evans. “That continued on Friday. They are always well-coached with quality players. To our credit, we really possessed the ball well and created numerous chances. It was great to see Mads scored her first goal for us. With our offense coming along and multiple girls contributing on that end, it feels like we are trending in the right direction at the right time.”
Lake Tahoe (6-2-3 overall, 2-0 GVC) was atop the conference standings and on a three-game winning streak heading into Tuesday’s conference road game against College of Siskiyous in Weed.
The game was scheduled for after press deadline. The Coyotes will host Feather River at 4 p.m. Friday.
