LTCC’s Basher earn All-America Nordic status

Lindsey Basher of the Lake Tahoe Community College Nordic Ski Team came home from the recent U.S. Collegiate Snowsport Association National Championships with All-America honors.

The LTCC sophomore earned All-America honors for her sixth-place finish in the 10-kilometer skate race as well as her seventh-place finish in the 7.5K classic race at Bogas Basin Ski Resort in Boise, Idaho.

Schools represented at the championships for Nordic skiing were LTCC, U.S. Military Academy, Clarkson University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, U.S. Air Force Academy, Whitman College, University of Wyoming, Marquette University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Colorado Mountain College.

Travis Lambert, also a sophomore, was injured in a fall in the first race of the competition and was unable to race again. Lambert was LTCC’s top male racer throughout the regular season.

Even without his help, the men’s team had a good showing. Team members Dan Wolfers, Frank Keuchenmiester, Doug Cichowicz and Mike Dela Rosa beat Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Colorado Mountain College (the only other two-year school) and U.S. Military Academy.
