Many ways to bet on Giants

With the Giants in the World Series and some key college and pro football games on tap, local sports books will be packed with enthusiastic bettors taking their shots at the house’s money this weekend.

For Barry Bonds’ fans this is a long-awaited event. He has been playing very well in the postseason and is poised to win his first World Series title and possibly another MVP award.

If you are going to bet the Giants to win the series, you’ll have to bet $1.10 for every $1 you are expecting to win — depending where you wager.

Another way to bet the series is to pick the exact number of games that will be played. For instance, if you think the Giants can win in four games, your odds are 8/1. If you think the Giants will win in seven games, your odds drop to 5/1. This should be a great series and, of course, Lakeside will show all the games on our big HDTV’s.

In football this week the mighty Fight’n Irish take on the Cadets from Air Force in a battle of undefeated teams. I’m not sure the Cadets have ever been favored over the Irish, but this week they are. In other games Texas will try to rebound from their first loss of the year when they travel to Kansas State. And, of course, it’s homecoming for the UNR against San Jose State.

In the pros, there are some key conference matchups that will have the fans going crazy. The 49ers travel to New Orleans to face and old rival and the Chargers go to Oakland to face the Raiders. Of course, you can catch all the action in the Tavern.

Here’s this week’s 3-teamer. Notre Dame + 3, Colorado D28 and the Jets D3 Y. That’s it and I’ll see ya’ in the Tavern.
