New graders for South Shore winters

by Staff

The El Dorado County Board of Supervisors has approved a $1.93 million contract to purchase nine graders to be used for snow removal in South Lake Tahoe.

The bid went to Tenco Tractor of Pleasant Grove.

The equipment used this last winter is at least seven years old, and two motor graders have worked the roads in South Tahoe and along the western slope for 18 years.

The acquisition and lease arrangements negotiated by the county will require more than $220,000 each year for seven years. The equipment is scheduled to be in South Lake Tahoe by September.
