Orlich scores 11 in Clovis West romp

Staff report

The Clovis West girls advanced to the Southern California Regional basketball quarterfinals by doubling up Taft of Woodland Hills 76-38 on Monday night in Clovis.

Former South Lake Tahoe resident Brianna Orlich scored 11 points.

However, CIF Central Section champion Clovis West (28-3) was eliminated from state title contention by Chatworth 63-59 at home on Tuesday night.

The Clovis West boys, coached by former South Tahoe High mentor Tom Orlich, met a similar fate on Monday at Etiwanda. An Etiwanda tip-in as time expired sent the game into overtime, and Clovis West went on to lose a tight Southern California Regional game, 73-70.

Orlich’s team finished with a 25-7 record.

Little League managers sought

Any adult that wishes to manage a South Tahoe Little League major or minor “A” team must declare their interest to the league before March 10.

On March 10, board members will select managers for the 2008 season, which begins at the end of April.

Prospective managers can call league president Joby Cefalu at (530) 308-4458.
