Play Ball: South Tahoe National Little League holds Opening Day

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — On a beautiful day for baseball, South Tahoe National Little League held its Opening Day parade and ceremony Saturday morning at the Majors Field. STNLL’s opening day was originally scheduled for April 25, but snow postponed the start of the season for an additional week.

Players and coaches paraded down Lyons Avenue to Rufus Allen Blvd. and onto the Majors Field for the ceremony. After South Tahoe baseball players led the pledge of allegiance, STHS student Aurora Gooch performed the national anthem followed by first pitches from Steve Weiss and Reno Aces mascot Archie.

The ceremony concluded a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of tee ball and multi-purpose fields. This season, STNLL has 36 teams and more than 400 players.
