STATELINE — Northern Nevada’s largest bodybuilding contest will return to the South Shore next month. The fifth-annual Tahoe Show Bodybuilding Championship will be held at Montbleu Resort on Aug. 22.
“We are pleased to present a platform for our contestants and sponsors to raise awareness for health, fitness and friendly competition,” said Christopher Minnes, bodybuilding champion and Tahoe Show producer.
The NPC/IFBB-sanctioned event has doubled in size from past years to attract 1,500 spectators and 400 athletes who will compete for cash prizes, championship trophies and fitness stardom. The Tahoe Show will showcase local and global contestants in figure, fitness, bikini, bodybuilding and IFBB pro figure divisions.
The event that sells out each year is a national qualifier for amateur and professional athletes contending for Mr. Olympia qualification and to win their share of the cash purse. Actor Lou Ferrigno, Jr. will host the show that offers world-class men’s and women’s physiques and legendary athletes both on and off the stage.
Live-streamed highlights include a Meet The Pros press briefing, IFBB Pro Kris Dim, a star-studded red carpet and after party, new product showcase and the highly-anticipated lakeside photo shoot with “the world’s sexiest bodies” on Lake Tahoe’s South Shore the following day.
More than a beauty pageant, bodybuilding is a sport where physique reflects physical training, discipline and self-worth. Some entrants hope to transform bodybuilding’s image from rock-hard abs and small bathing suits to sleeker, sexier bodies, changing the conversation on what health and fitness should look like. But expect lots of flexing at this visual extravaganza covered by magazines, bloggers and in millions of tweets, photos and social media fan page posts around the globe.
Renowned as one of the industry’s best competitions by contestants, judges and spectators alike, the Tahoe Show will be held all day at the Montbleu Resort Theatre. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. with pre-judging for NPC/IFBB divisions running from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
NPC/IFBB state presentations will take place at 6 p.m., with finals and trophy awards starting at 6:30 p.m. Following the event, a red carpet photo shoot will be held at Opal Ultra Lounge at 10 p.m.
Tickets range from $30 to $85 and show sponsors are Quest Nutrition and Cellucor along with presenting sponsors Bodybuilding.com, Tahoesouth.com, Muscular Development and Ferrigno Legacy. For information, registration and a full event schedule visit http://www.tahoeshow.com.
