"Real" hockey season sign ups

South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena staff has set Aug. 17 as the sign-up date for the first full-scale 12-week fall ice hockey league.

This is the real hockey season, when the everybody from mini-mites to the pros take to the ice.

The adult league includes 11 games and playoffs — 12 games guaranteed — from Sept. 9 through Dec. 8. The youth league is comprised of nine games, playoffs and practices.



Game times, including youth league practices, are scheduled in the evening for beginner, intermediate and advanced teams. No games will be schedule the week of Thanksgiving.

Players in the youth league will be placed on teams according to age and ability. Future tournament opportunities will be considered. Fifteen players are allowed per team.



The cost is $185 per adult player and $70 for goalies. Youth league registration is $125 per player and $50 for goalies.

Fees cover all ice time, referees, scorekeepers and jerseys.
