Regional champs: South Tahoe boys tennis beats Truckee, claims 3A Northern Region title
RENO, Nev. — The South Tahoe boys tennis team now has the hardware to match its season-long supremacy in 3A Northern Region. The top-seeded Vikings beat second-seeded Truckee 10-8 at Reno Tennis Center for the regional championship Friday, Oct. 7, remaining undefeated while capturing the crown.
South Tahoe (12-0) heads into the 3A State tournament with an unbeaten record after beating rival Truckee (9-3) in a closely contested match. The Vikings have handed the Wolverines all three of their losses this season.
In the state semifinals, South Tahoe will face South second seed Boulder City (Nev.) (12-1) at Reno Tennis Center while Truckee will play Southern Region champion The Meadows (Las Vegas) (15-0). Both matches are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 20, at noon.
The semifinals winners advance to the state championship match Friday, Oct. 21, at Tahoe Donner Tennis Center in Truckee. First serve is scheduled for 9 a.m.
