Reilly, Lambdin get ‘Wolves off to fast start
Kate Lambdin and Patrick Reilly got the fall sports season off and running for South Tahoe Middle School on Sept. 5 at Spooner Lake.
The eighth-graders won their respective 2.2-mile races in 16 minutes, 41 seconds and 13:03, respectively.
Plenty of Timberwolves weren’t far behind Lambdin as STMS won the girls’ division. Courtney Cichowicz was fourth in 17:49, Nicole Uibel sixth in 21:26, Brooke Borges ninth in 22:46 and Kelley Treiber 13th in 25:47.
“Overall, it was a great meet with strong performances turned in by every runner,” said STMS coach Karin Holmes.
Reilly’s blistering pace left the field far behind. However, teammate Brian Walker seized second place with a clocking of 15:01. Vince Capellino was fourth in 15:26, Dillon Perucci 12th in 16:20 and Joey Summerhill 13th in 16:20.
STMS had a third winner in the girls’ sixth- and seventh-grade 1.95-mile race. Kylie Noll, the Timberwolves’ only racer, finished first in 15:00.
Rand Norberg, STMS’s only seventh-grade boys’ representative, came in third place in 15:26.
In the sixth-grade boys’ race, three STMS runners finished in the top 10. Chris Whatford led the way with a third-place time of 15:10. Nick Brower was fourth in 16:01, Erich Baumann 10th in 18:11 and Adam Kern 14th in 18:55.
STMS didn’t have a sixth-grade girl entered.
