Reno West beats South Reno to advance to finals

tribune staff reports

In a marathon-like contest that lasted 31/2 hours Tuesday night, the Reno West Babe Ruth All Stars outlasted their city rivals, South Reno, 6-5 at Todd Fields.

The two squads were deadlocked at five after seven innings and it wasn’t until the bottom of the ninth that the game was decided.

With one out in the inning, Beady Price of Reno West cracked a double to get into scoring position and jump-start the rally. J.P. Todd then singled him home to drive in the winning run.

The game almost didn’t make it into extra innings as Reno West had to score two runs in the seventh to tie the score.

John Wallace sparked the rally with a single before Todd and Dustin Rosness laced back-to-back triples to send the game into extra innings.

Sparks 8, North Valley 6

The Sparks All Stars used a four-run second inning to propel themselves into a semi-final showdown with the South Reno and beat the North Valley All Star team, 8-6.

Jake McGee opened the inning with a single and was sacrifced into scoring position by Chris Evans. Glen Deweese and Ryan Lammell and Brad Carlson all singles and scored in the inning.
