Tribune staff report

The Zephyr Cove Tennis Club is hosting the 31st annual Tahoe Tennis Classic Tournament Aug. 1-3.

The tournament is an all doubles format attracting players from all over the country. About 110 teams are expected to participate.

After 30 years of Hersh and Sheryl Herschman directing the tournament, the couple has passed the reins on to the Zephyr Cove Tennis Club Foundation. The foundation is run by local volunteers.

Men’s, women’s and mixed doubles teams are separated into divisions based on skill level. The cost is $70 per player for the first event ad $30 for a second event with a two event maximum and each team is guaranteed two matches. The second event is free to Zephyr Cove Tennis Club members.

The cost includes a player dinner party on Saturday, a raffle, and a tournament hat and shirt.

This tournament will take place at the Zephyr Cove Tennis Club courts off Highway 50 on Warrior Way overlooking Lake Tahoe.
