Local athletes were well-represented on top of the podium this weekend during the United States of America Snowboard and Freeski Association South Tahoe Series rail jam, slalom and giant slalom events.

Thirteeen kids from South Lake Tahoe took home first-place medals in their respective divisions Saturday and Sunday at Sierra-at-Tahoe and some won twice.

South Shore-based Freeskiers Sebastian Kilgore (boys 10-13), Josh Bull (boys 14 and over), Dolgoon Enkhbayar (boys 9 and under) and snowboarders Baker Broadhurst (boys 10-13), Isabelle Wilson (girls 10-13) and Devon Smead (boys 9 and under) all took first place Saturday in the rail jam competition held within sight of Solstice Plaza near the base area.

The following day snowboarders Krystyna Schembri (girls 12-13), Jude James (boys 8-9, Kai Teteak (10-11 boys) and Lillia Verduzco (girls 10-11) swept their divisions in both the slalom and giant slalom while fellow South Shore riders Serina Verduzco (girls 8-9), Dylan Parker (boys 7 and under) and Zaria Steeves (girls 7 and under) all claimed first in giant slalom.

The next competition is slopestyle and will be held Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 26-27, at Sierra.
