South Tahoe boys soccer falls to rival Truckee 7-1 (photos)

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — The South Tahoe boys soccer team suffered a lopsided defeat against its cross-lake rivals Tuesday, Sept. 20. The Vikings fell to Truckee 7-1 in a 3A Northern League match at South Tahoe Middle School.
South Tahoe (1-5, 1-3 3A Northern) went behind by two goals six minutes into Tuesday’s match and never recovered. Senior Lex Merrifield scored in the 61st minute to get the Vikings on the board — Truckee (7-2-1, 3-1-1) scored three goals in the first half and added three more in the first 10 minutes of the second half.
The Vikings return to action Friday, Sept. 23, at Elko — kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. The following day, South Tahoe faces Spring Creek on the road at noon.
