South Tahoe boys’ soccer team pounds Wooster

In what amounted to a warm-up game for substitute players on the South Tahoe boys’ soccer team, the Vikings beat Wooster 10-0 on the Colts’ home field.

“Alex Torres scored two goals in the first two minutes of the game and he had a ‘hat trick’ because he scored another goal in the second half,” said STHS senior Leon Abravanel, who also had a goal for the Vikings. “I think Wooster only had 13 guys. We had most of our starters out of the game (in the second half).”

Senior Tim Head said the Vikings used the opportunity to “practice our own game” in preparation for a meeting with North Tahoe on Tuesday. The Vikings tied the Lakers 0-0 earlier in the season.

“(Wooster) was one of our easier games,” Head said. “We wanted to come out and score early so we could rest our starters. We’re all really looking forward to them (North Tahoe).”
