South Tahoe boys win league opener, girls fall

The South Tahoe boys’ basketball team won its 3A Northern League opener on the road Saturday against the Lowry Roughriders while the South Tahoe girls fell to last year’s state runners-up.

The boys shut down the Roughriders, earning a 49-29 victory and the girls lost 64-21.

The Vikings boys (3-4) and girls (0-6) each played their home openers Tuesday, Dec. 12, against Truckee.

The teams will be at home again Friday night against Elko. Tip-off for the girls is at 6 p.m. and the boys begin at 7:30.
