FERNLEY, Nev. — With half of its Div. I-A Northern League slate down, the South Tahoe girls team is in second place in the standings. The Vikings wrapped up the first round of league play with a 6-0 win at Fernley on Saturday, Oct. 3, a result that keeps them in position to defend their league title.

In Saturday’s win, South Tahoe (6-2-2, 6-1-1 I-A Northern) got two goals and an assist from Kenya Maltase. Annie Brejc and Desi Benavidez each added a goal and an assist while Bailee Salmon chipped in an assist.

The Vikings return to action Friday, Oct. 9, when they begin the second round of league play at Elko. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
