South Tahoe girls’ tennis team shuts out Hug
The South Tahoe girls’ tennis team improved its record to 4-0 on the season with a shutout of Hug at home Tuesday. That is the Vikings’ second shutout of the year.
The Hawks brought an incomplete team of only nine rather than the usual 18 players and the Vikings had no problem with those who came.
Sara Schwartz won her match 6-2 in No. 3 singles and the No. 2 doubles team of Sommer St. Michel and Lizzie Goldenberg also won 6-2.
“The girls are improving and the biggest improvement is on serves,” said Vikings assistant coach Monte Valoria. “There were numerous aces in the match.”
Next up for the Vikings is Manogue at home Thursday beginning at 3:30 p.m.
“That’s going to be a big match, our toughest of the year so far,” Valoria said.
