South Tahoe JV baseball wins first league series

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — The South Tahoe junior varsity baseball team began its Div. I-A Northern League campaign with a series victory. The Vikings won two of three games in its against Elko last weekend at SLT Babe Ruth Field to improve to 4-3 overall.

The Vikings rallied for a 7-6 win in the series opener Friday and split Saturday’s doubleheader with a 14-4 victory and 21-5 loss. In the series opener, South Tahoe erased a 6-0 deficit.

At the plate for STHS, Justin Ruger went 6-for-10 with six RBIs and Cameron McCarthy finished 6-for-11 with five RBIs. Andru Aquino and Quentin Marullo each picked up wins on the mound.
