South Tahoe, Quincy settle nothing

Tribune Staff Report

South Tahoe and Quincy needed an extra night’s sleep to decide their Connie Mack Senior Babe Ruth state tournament game Thursday in Mammoth Lakes, Calif.

The teams played to a 12-12 after nine innings when the game was called because of darkness. The game will resume Friday at 8:30 a.m. in the 10th inning at Whitmore Field.

Quincy pushed three runs across the plate in the seventh to force extra innings.

“They just kept scrapping,” said Tahoe coach David Santee, who saw his team squander a four-run lead late in the game.

If Tahoe wins, it will play the winner of the Tribe I-Tribe II game at 4 p.m. A loss sends Tahoe into a 2:30 p.m. loser’s bracket game with the Reno Black Sox. The tournament continues through Sunday.

Directions to Whitmore Field are: Take U.S. Highway 395 South past the Mammoth Lakes exit. Exit on Benton Cross Road and proceed about a mile. The field is on the left-hand side.

If you need additional directions, phone Santee at (760) 934-5317.
