South Tahoe High School’s boys and girls swim team started the season off with two wins apiece at their first dual meet on Saturday.

The boys team beat Churchill by a score of 124-97 and Sparks by a score of 134-55, and the girls beat Churchill 148-86 and Sparks 157-59.

South Tahoe’s senior Lauren Tang took first place in the girls 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle races while Kirsten Tang placed first in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard backstroke. Sophomore Ally Swain was a close second in the 200-yard individual medley and Maia Smith came in second in the 100-yard freestyle. Margaret Albrecht placed first in the 100-yard butterfly while Kimberley Craig came in third. Morgan Wirth came in second and Lissie Stewart third in the 100-yard backstroke.

South Tahoe finished 1-2-3 in the 500-yard freestyle with Swain placing first, Madeline Pennington second and Craig third. Smith also placed first in the 100-yard breast stroke just in front of South Tahoe freshman Annabelle Dressler. In the 50 yard freestyle, Stewart and Kylee Lyons placed third and second respectively behind Churchill’s Sierra Bivens, who came in first.

For the boys, Brady McIntyre, Bryan Peuse and Charlie Filce place first, second and third respectively in the 200-yard freestyle while Ryan Piazzo came in third for the 50-yard freestyle. McIntyre also placed first in the 100-yard butterfly.

In the 200-yard individual medley, Louie Marin and Kellen Gronwald finished a close 1-2. Peuse and Gronwald also finished 1-2 in the 500-yard freestyle. Marin finished first in the 100 yard backstroke and Piazzo won the 100-yard backstroke.

For the relays, South Tahoe teams took five of the six races.
