South Tahoe wins Amador opener

South Tahoe’s boys basketball team used a 14-point advantage in the third quarter to down Merced, 71-57, in the first round of the Amador Valley Tournament on Thursday in the Bay Area.

Alan Case led the Vikings (6-1) with 20 points, while Casey Dowling contributed 17 points with seven rebounds and Travis McCollum had 10 points.

Tahoe faces Grant on Friday at 5:30 p.m., in the semifinals.
