South Tahoe wrestling team wins two weekend matches

The South Lake Tahoe High School varsity wrestling team picked up a couple of wins over the weekend.

In two Saturday matches held in Reno, South Tahoe won both, 42-34 over Reno High, and 66-13 over North Valleys.

“They had quite a few forfeits and we had a pin from David Vasquez to cinch the match up for us,” said South Tahoe head coach Jack Lopez of his team’s win over Reno. “We had five matches. It went down to the heavies. The score was 34-36 at the heavies and that was the last match.”

South Tahoe also defeated a depleted North Valley squad on forfeits.

“They only have four kids,” Lopez said. “They won three and we won one, but we have a full squad.”

The two wins put the team at 3-2 in conference play and 4-2 overall for the season in duals.
