STHS girls tennis beaten by Reno
The South Tahoe High girls’ tennis team was soundly beaten by Reno 15-3 on Thursday in Reno.
“We got a well-deserved thrashing,” STHS coach Pat Fagen said. “Our skill and talent is as good, if not better than Reno, we just lack competitive experience.”
The highlight for the Vikings was the doubles team of Kenzi Usher and Chela Wahl, who beat Reno’s No. 2 team 6-4 and No. 3 duo 6-1.
“The Reno players play frequently in local tournaments,” Fagen said. “I challenged our team to play in the circuit, but none of them made the commitment. Future success of the team will be determined by events our girls play in outside of high school.”
The other South Tahoe victory was registered by the team of Savannah Cherry and Casey Cole, who defeated the Huskies’ No. 2 team 6-4.
“Lindsey Martin played hard, and continues to improve,” Fagen said. “I was also impressed with the play of Krisha Pennollar and Lupe Ramirez, as well as Alyssa Mlynski.”
