STHS looking for Nordic skiing, basketball coaches

Staff report

South Tahoe High is in jeopardy of losing its freshman girls’ basketball team for the season.

The school is still searching for a coach for the ninth-graders. If one can’t be found in the coming week, the school will likely shut down the program for the season.

STHS is also looking for a cross country ski coach.

Scott Hudson has been unable to continue his coaching duties with the program after beginning treatment for cancer.

The Vikings open their cross country skiing season Dec. 14 at the Auburn Relays and compete through Feb. 16.

Varsity girls’ basketball assistant Andy Braun has been putting the ninth-grade girls through preseason drills. Because of his duties with the varsity program and the fact that the freshman girls and varsity girls play at different venues most of the time, Braun won’t be able to continue instructing the team.

The freshman team opens its season Dec. 11 at Dayton and will play a 15-game schedule that concludes on Feb. 8.

Interested coaches should contact STHS Athletic Director Don Borges at (530) 541-4111.
