The South Tahoe High girls soccer team continued its winning ways Tuesday, defeating the North Valleys Panthers 3-0 in a Nevada 4A match in Reno.

Scoring two goals in the first 25 minutes of action off the feet of Megan Johnson and Lauren Bachelder, the Vikings cruised into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

The second half saw more strong defense and good offensive play.

Reggie Braun got the third goal in the 76th minute, burying a shot in the upper-right corner of the net.

“That was a gorgeous turn and shot,” Viking coach Julia Russell said.

While the goals were the points that earned them the victory, Russell was quick to acknowledge the efforts of some of her defensive stars.

Sweeper Rennee LaForce produced a lot of the play upfield which led to Vikings scoring, while defender Megan Hoppe was able to anchor the backline and shut down any Panther scoring threats.

Jessi Seifert also had an outstanding game for the Vikings.

“Jessi has really been making all the difference in our offensive movements,” Russell said.

The Vikings look to continue the winning Saturday as the continue road play at Hug.
