STHS swimmers at league meet

Both South Tahoe swimming teams will look to continue their momentum at Saturday’s Zephyr League championships at Northwest Pool in Reno. The meet starts at 10:30 a.m.

The South Tahoe boys’ team is coming off a 129-90 victory over Reed last Friday at the Rec Center Pool in South Lake Tahoe.

Joe Stanton (500 freestyle, 100 backstroke) and Tim Powers (200 freestyle, 100 fly) both earned first-place finishes against the Raiders. Dab Rabetts won the 200 individual medley and Hans Mayer placed first in the 100 freestyle.

For the girls, Natalie Turner, Lauren Falls and Lacey Payne are coming off strong showing in last Friday’s 147-111 loss to Reed.

Turner won the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle, while Falls took first in the 100 breaststroke. Payne recorded a personal-best time of 1 minute, 8.53 seconds to win the 100 fly against the Raiders.
