The South Tahoe High volleyball team moved into the upper echelon of Northern Nevada 4A teams with a five-game victory at Fallon on Tuesday.

The Vikings (13-3) avenged an earlier loss to the Greenwave with a 15-9, 15-8, 9-15, 13-15, 15-11 hard-fought win. The two teams are tied behind undefeated Douglas in Division II play. Adrian Hankoff led the way with monster performance of 36 kills and 14 blocks. Courtney Wilson had 13 kills and two blocks, while Kate Devore added a solid 10 kills and 11 blocks. Alicia Lambert tallied 47 assists.

“We went to Fallon, outplayed them and beat them on their home floor. (The girls) are playing great right now and having fun,” said Tahoe coach Alan Lambert. “I think we have the best chance of anybody of beating Douglas.”

Tahoe, which finished second in a 17-team tourney last weekend in Santa Cruz, Calif., goes to Reno today and ends the regular season hosting Reed on Thursday. The zone tournament is scheduled for Nov. 7 and 8.
