STMS sends eight wrestlers to Tah-Neva Championships
CARSON CITY, Nev. — Eight of the 10 South Tahoe Middle School wrestlers that competed in the qualifying tournament last weekend at Carson Middle School are headed to the next round of the postseason. Those Timberwolves have made their way to the Tah-Neva Championships this Saturday in Fallon.
At the qualifying tournament, the eight STMS wrestlers advanced by finishing in the top four in their respective weight classes. Jose Leon, Max Wirth and Austin Wadkins all placed first, Drake Lathrop and Nate Singelyn each took second, Tristin Waller finished third and Gary Freeman and Derek Robbins both placed fourth.
“They all wrestled hard and we have high hopes for all eight that are going to Fallon,” assistant coach Robert Hook said. “The two that didn’t make it, Noah Ramos and Gavin Breen, battled hard the entire day and will have another chance next year.”
Thanks from the team goes out to assistant coaches Hook, Miguel Leon and George Rohrbacher. All three have donated their time to make the wrestlers the best they can be and assist first-year head coach Kenyon Elliot.
