The 2016 U.S. Freeskiing and Snowboarding halfpipe, slopestyle, big air and snowboardcross teams — led by a number of Olympic champions — were officially announced Thursday, Dec. 10.

The pro teams feature world-class rosters of 57 skiers and snowboarders, including 25 Olympians and six Olympic gold medalists.

The Truckee-Tahoe area was well represented, including South Shore skier and reigning Olympic champion Maddie Bowman inclusion on the women’s halfpipe team. Local snowboarders Hannah Teter and Elena Hight were named to the women’s halfpipe team.

Among the North Shore selections, Truckee’s Chas Guldemond was named to the men’s snowboard slopestyle team, and Nate Holland of Squaw Valley was named to the men’s snowboardcross A team.

Halfpipe and slopestyle snowboarders and skiers begin their competition season this week at the Dew Tour in Breckenridge, Colorado, while the snowboardcross team is launching its season at the FIS World Cup in Montafon, Austria, Dec. 11-13.
