The 42nd annual Ponderosa Ridge Run will return to the South Shore this Saturday, July 2. The 9.5-mile trail race from Spooner Summit to Kingsbury Grade tests participants with steep climbs throughout.
Ponderosa Ridge Run begins 10 a.m. Saturday at the Spooner Summit Maintenance Station on Highway 50 and finishes at the end of Andria Drive off Kingsbury Grade. The course is a hilly, unpaved fire road that features and elevation gain of 2,000 feet over the first 4.5 miles toward the summit near Genoa Peak, and has no aid stations available.
J.P. Donovan of Incline Village, Nevada, won the 2015 race with a time of 1:03:20. Anna Mae Flynn of Incline Village was the top female last year, completing the course in 1:18:13.
All signups are taken at the start of the race, and a $2 donation is asked of participants — survivor ribbons and cold drinks will be provided. For more information, call Austin Angell at 530-541-5224.
