SAN JOSE, Calif. — The Tahoe Grizzlies pee wee hockey team made history on the ice in the Bay Area. The Grizzlies won the Pee Wee B championship at the International Silver Stick regional tournament held Nov. 27-29 at Sharks Ice, becoming the first team to accomplish that feat.

The Grizzlies downed the San Francisco Sabercats 6-1 in the championship game to deliver the historic result. With the title, Tahoe advances to the finals held Jan. 7-10 on Canadian soil in Pelham, Ontario.

The team is currently raising funds for registration and travel expenses for the Canada trip and has a Facebook page titled “Tahoe Grizzlies are going to Canada.” A GoFundMe page is active at http://www.gofundme.com/herewecomecanada.

The Tahoe Grizzlies squirt hockey team finished second in its division after falling in the championship at Silver Sticks. For more information on the South Tahoe Amateur Hockey Association, visit http://www.tahoegrizzlies.com.
