Tahoe Icemen swept at division-leading Missoula

MISSOULA, Mont. — The Tahoe Icemen traveled to WSHL Northwest Division leaders Missoula for a three game series last weekend, Oct. 16-18, and were unable to come away with a victory. The Icemen were swept by the Maulers at Glacier Ice Rink, leaving them winless in 13 games this season.

Tahoe fell to Missoula 10-1 in the series opener on Friday, Oct. 16. The Icemen’s lone goal in the loss came from Austin Lykins midway through the second period on the power play off assists from Kevin Hodsdon and John Moffat — the Maulers scored three goals in the first and second periods.

In the middle game of the series, Tahoe lost to the Maulers 7-1 on Saturday, Oct. 17. The Icemen tied the game 1-1 in the first period when Artsiom Surmach scored off assists from Maksim Akimychau and Cestmir Dolezel III — then Missoula reeled off six goals unanswered to win going away.

The Icemen dropped the series finale against Missoula by an 8-0 margin on Sunday, Oct. 18. The Maulers led 2-0 after the first period, then scored three goals apiece in the second and third frames to send Tahoe to a third straight defeat.

Tahoe (0-13) returns to action with a three-game series against Idaho (9-0) starting Friday, Oct. 23, at South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena. Friday and Saturday’s games start at 7:30 p.m. with Sunday’s series finale scheduled for 2 p.m.
